A stunning sight as you walk around center of beautiful Zadar. Its name refers to Donatus of Zadar, who began construction on this church in the 9th century and ended it on the northeastern part of the Roman forum. Church of St. Donatus is the largest Pre-romanesque building in Croatia. Originally named the church of the Holy Trinity in the 15th century it was renamed the Church of St. Donatus. Definitely a sight to see, inside and outside. I just love it.

Thank you for enjoying my Post “Rails to Trails”. I just love to snoop around in Historical places just to learn and see what’s there from long ago. I’d like to see that church, but since that’s not possible I’ll have to be there thru a Image. Don’t worry about your photo’s. They look just fine to me. As you can see in my Blog, there are so many Historical places around my area over here I never get tired of looking. I shoot a Pentax K10D DSLR, a Nikon D7000 DSLR, and a Nikon P600 DSLR. All with various Lens’s. I always say “Just get out there” and keep trying. It’s the only way you’ll learn. Just like me. Be Well over there ~ Les

yes! Absolutely! It’s a full functioning church. You can also reserve it for a wedding. It’s a long list but you can do it.

Thank you for liking my post about Shanghai! I was really surprised to see your post about this church; I visited Zadar several years ago and had forgotten about this place. Thank you for the reminder! I do however recall the sea organ. The sounds it makes are hauntingly beautiful.
