If you follow my blog you know I don’t write much. I’m all about pictures. But this time I just have to tell you everything exactly as it was, in case you ever decide to visit Bosnia and this area especially.
This is not the first time I was in Bosnia. It was about 5th time this year but it’s my first time in Jajce. We heard there is a lovely waterfall and a gorgeous sight to see. When we got there I parked my carbon public big parking lot with a lot of other cars. We went to see the waterfall and payed for it 2 marke (about 1 Euro per person) and after we went to eat. The watefall and especially this view is beautiful! I love the little city up there as well. So nice and gorgeous! And not alot of walking which is great because it was +37 Celsius in the shade.
The restaurant was delicious and so affordable but nobody there spoke English (I don’t know if that’s the case in others around it) and we went back to the car (not even 2h later). When we arived there were no cars next to my car and I looked down to the tires – there was something add, I noticed that someone stole a decorative screw on every of my 4 tires. One on every weel. I’m just glad we got there before it assembled the whole tires. I was shocked. Then I looked more and saw my review mirror and it was scratched like someone pressured wooden board and dragged until it scratched. (No other car could do it, I have a huge car and there were normal cars where I parked in between them on purpose) We drove straight away to Banjaluka and left the car under hotel cameras.
Moral of this story and my advice to you;
If you are visiting Bosnia come with a bus or rent a car in Bosnia especially if you are going outside Sarajevo. As my car has Croatian license plates it’s a very slippery slope. Since the war was 20 years ago the hate is still in some people. I never ever experienced to my face but I would never ever leave my car in Banjaluka if I can’t see it because of Serbian-Croatian relations until this day. (Banjaluka had most Serbian citizens). That’s the perfect example how few people can ruin it for everyone and make you look over your shoulder. I love going to Bosnia because in hotels, restaurants and cafes they are so nice and friendly (and amazing delicious food). People on the streets too, they will help you in anyway they can which I can’t say for Croatia. Yes, they are just trying harder and they are never annoyed in Bosnia.
I will not stop going to Bosnia because of this, I like it, but I just want to warn and inform you so you don’t return to your car with a broken something and be surprised.
Thank you if you read all this! Maybe I should write more like this? 😆 Make sure to follow me and have a great week😄
I just wanted to share this quickly, just an look outside the city walls. When you look it like this it really looks like you are in the movie. I can’t help but wonder how many people all these centuries were looking outside like this while trying to concor this city-state. Also I can see why they didn’t concor it, it just too majestic and too perfect. This stone hes been here since centuries and it still looks like it could protect you.
It’s awesome that I could capture this photo without any modern day things in the way! It really looks like a movie set or just a bit of time travel. 🏰
I was going through my pictures from a month ago and saw that I didn’t post this amazing city view! I was amazed with the snow still staying ton the mountains fitting perfectly into this pic. Gotta say, this is the only time I really like to see some snow, even in photos 😛 And yes, it does reminds me on white chocolate topping on the ice-cream (obsession much?).
It’s lovely you don’t have to go far up to get a nice landscape shot of the Ljubljana, sometimes the small city is not a bad thing, not every capital city needs to be a giant. Small and safe all the way. 😀 I always feel so comfortable in this city.
Even tho is raining I had to take pictures of this almost mystical sight. The clouds on top of the mountains are stunning. The calmness of the lake and atmosphere of the forest surrounding me is just the best therapy when your stress is all over you. When you are standing in the place like this a lot of thoughts are just leaving your mind and new positive are coming in, it’s all you need sometimes.
It’s too bad I didn’t get sunny pics of this amazing place, but this is beautiful too.
When you get out in the back of Diocletian palace your eyes will lay on this view. Love love love it!
Grgur Ninski, who strongly opposed the Pope and official circles of the Church and introduced the national language in the religious services after the Great Assembly in 926. Until that time, services were held only in Latin, not being understandable to the majority of the population. Not only was this important for Croatian language and culture but it also made Christianity stronger within the Croatian kingdom.
Narrow but filled with history and beauty. Lovely flowers on house windows are braking the stone consistency.
I love looking at the sky when I walk through there streets, such a contrast of colors comparing with stone. When it rains of it rained you should probably look ahead not the sky or up because the stone on this streets is crazy slippery even when it’s dry! 🙂
Many things are wrong with Croatia, I admit. Mostly economy and politics. But many things are just great and first and the most important when I travel is SAFETY! Can a woman travel alone in Croatia? YES YES and YES.
There were few incidents in the past but few is nothing compared to the rest of the world. You will definitely NOT get shot on the streets of Croatia, or stabbed. Not during the day, not during the night. Women DON’T have to be afraid to get raped even if they walk alone in the middle of the night. You should be always careful but you will not be afraid. To me, especially as a woman, that’s very important.
There are crazy people everywhere but Croatia is very safe country. You can even see kids play on the streets at 10pm as normal. Compared to other destinations where crime and women rights are still a problem, you are safe here. 🙂
It’s a cloudy day and out of tourist season SO that means not a lot people are drinking coffee and socialize outside. Croatia is known by the coffee culture and big NO to quick drinks of coffee to go! Make that a big HELL NO to coffee to go! 😀
So when you are in Croatia, order a coffee, sit with your friends for at least 3-4 hours and chat looking at the sea and people passing by. 😛
