Beauty of it and incidents – Jajce, Bosnia

If you follow my blog you know I don’t write much. I’m all about pictures. But this time I just have to tell you everything exactly as it was, in case you ever decide to visit Bosnia and this area especially.

This is not the first time I was in Bosnia. It was about 5th time this year but it’s my first time in Jajce. We heard there is a lovely waterfall and a gorgeous sight to see. When we got there I parked my carbon public big parking lot with a lot of other cars. We went to see the waterfall and payed for it 2 marke (about 1 Euro per person) and after we went to eat. The watefall and especially this view is beautiful! I love the little city up there as well. So nice and gorgeous! And not alot of walking which is great because it was +37 Celsius in the shade.

The restaurant was delicious and so affordable but nobody there spoke English (I don’t know if that’s the case in others around it) and we went back to the car (not even 2h later). When we arived there were no cars next to my car and I looked down to the tires – there was something add, I noticed that someone stole a decorative screw on every of my 4 tires. One on every weel. I’m just glad we got there before it assembled the whole tires. I was shocked. Then I looked more and saw my review mirror and it was scratched like someone pressured wooden board and dragged until it scratched. (No other car could do it, I have a huge car and there were normal cars where I parked in between them on purpose)  We drove straight away to Banjaluka and left the car under hotel cameras.

Moral of this story and my advice to you;

If you are visiting Bosnia come with a bus or rent a car in Bosnia especially if you are going outside Sarajevo. As my car has Croatian license plates it’s a very slippery slope. Since the war was 20 years ago the hate is still in some people. I never ever experienced to my face but I would never ever leave my car in Banjaluka if I can’t see it because of Serbian-Croatian relations until this day. (Banjaluka had most Serbian citizens). That’s the perfect example how few people can ruin it for everyone and make you look over your shoulder. I love going to Bosnia because in hotels, restaurants and cafes they are so nice and friendly (and amazing delicious food). People on the streets too, they will help you in anyway they can which I can’t say for Croatia. Yes, they are just trying harder and they are never annoyed in Bosnia.

I will not stop going to Bosnia because of this, I like it, but I just want to warn and inform you so you don’t return to your car with a broken something and be surprised.
